This is why the current arms race can feel slightly evasive. The practical purpose of most of these VMs and sandboxes is narrower than the rhetoric suggests. They are chiefly there to isolate code execution: to let the agent run its little experiments, install its little dependencies and execute its little snippets without immediately setting fire to the host machine.
